This is an Entertainment magazine. The main focus of the cover is the figure wearing the scream mask, this images stands out on the red background due to the contrasting black and white. The colour palette of this magazine is simple and sticks to three colours that contrast well with each other. The white text and mask stand out against the red background, but also makes the magazine have a nice clean look to it. The ‘RETURNS!’ in the title the scream returns is a slightly off white, this has been done so that it stand out slightly more than all the other text. Most magazines but their name under the main picture so the picture isn't incomplete, but on this cover it runs over the top as the hood is all black and it doesn't draw away from the main focus of the mask.

The main focus is the painted vampire figure on the front of the cover; like most of Monster of Filmland posters the main focus is painted, this is unusual for magazine covers as they usually show the main actors or actresses from the movies. The background of the cover is black which helps draw attention to the red magazine title and the bright coloured subtitles. The lay out of this magazine is very minimal compared to other genres of magazines. They have focused more on use of colours and type of text used on the cover to show the genre they are trying to show.

This is unusual for a magazine to use a painting on a cover, they usually show a main actor or actress from the movie to draw people in using their favourite actors/actresses. Red is used for the background as it is widely used in horrors to represent danger or evil. The uses of other colours are limited so that it does not pull much focus away from the main painting. Yellow is the secondary colour on this magazine as it contrasts well with the red, they have put the magazine name in yellow so it stands out and is easy to see in the magazine rack.
