This is a Famous Monster of Filmland magazine cover. The main focus of the magazine is the main
figure on the front of the cover. This is unusual for a magazine to use a
painting on a cover, they usually show a main actor or actress from the movie
to draw people in using their favourite actors/actresses. Red is used for the
background as it is widely used in horrors to represent danger or evil. The uses
of other colours are limited so that it does not pull much focus away from the
main painting. Yellow is the secondary colour on this magazine as it contrasts
well with the red, they have put the magazine name in yellow so it stands out
and is easy to see in the magazine rack.

This is a
horror trailer for the film Insidious which was released in 2010. I
think that this trailer is well made, at the start they show what other films
they have produced, this gives the audience an idea of what the film is going
to be like. The trailer doesn't give away too much of the main plot but also
may not have shown enough plot to draw people in. The music goes well throughout the whole trailer, it is subtle at the start when there is more dialogue but towards the end of the trailer it speeds up along with the clips. The pace of the trailer works well, it starts off slow which helps you take in the main plot of the trailer, it then fastens up towards the end which creates. At the end of the trailer there is a jump scare, this works well as you think the trailer is over.

This is a horror trailer for The Omen which was
released in 2006. I think that this trailer is well made; the trailer shows
enough of the plot to draw you in and leaves you wanting to find out more. The
pace of the trailer is well done, it starts off slow and gets faster towards
the end it does this by using quicker shots. The trailer is a psychological
horror which is shown in the trailer by the priest talking about the devil. A jump
scare is used in the scene at the zoo; this is to try create fear and tension.
The music in the trailer goes well and is subtle throughout the first part of
the trailer but gets louder and quicker along with the faster paced shots. Over
all I think this is a well-made trailer, which draws the audience in and leaves
you wanting to know more.
MY SCORE 8/10
This is a horror/comedy trailer for the film Stitches which
was released in 2012. This trailer is not a brilliant trailer; there is a voice
over through most of the trailer which makes it cheesy and annoying to watch. Most
of the trailer is also intertitles, which makes the trailer boring and the
movie less appealing. The trailer does contain a lot of gore but also contains most
the kill shot which then gives away most of the movie. The ending of the
trailer is slightly better than the start as it contains fewer intertitles and
picks up a faster pace which gains the audience’s attention. The trailer gives
away enough of the plot to make you want to watch more without giving away the
main details. Over all I think this trailer could have been better but still
draws the audience in.

Class Research: Favourite Type of Horror
My favourite sub-genre of horror movie is Gory, I like this sub-genre more because I like to see the development of gore effect over time.
This is a horror/crime trailer for the Pusher Trilogy
which was released in 2005. This trailer is well made it is fast pace which
keeps you interested and makes the movie feel more interesting. The shots go
with the rhythm of the music and speed up with the rhythm. The trailer hints
that it includes a lot of sex and violence which goes with the genre of the
movie. The fast paced shots don’t give away too much of the plot and draw the
watcher in as they want to know more. Even though it is a well-made trailer
there are faults. Some people would want to know more of the plot before
watching the movie. Also some people don’t like the really quick paced shots,
as it goes to fast for them to take in what is happening. Overall I think that
this trailer is well made and would make me want to watch this trilogy.
