This trailer is a horror for Clover field which was released in 2008. This trailer was well made, the use of collision cutting in this trailer worked well.  They show the narrative well in the trailer by showing the leaving party, which the cuts to the shots from the explosion, this creates excitement and confusion, which leaves you wanting to find out what happens. The trailer clearly shows that the movie is handheld, which is good at it is not false advertising. The way they have shown the movie shows it is ideal for its target audience of 18-25 year olds, and the fact it’s a scene trailer gives the audience a real sense of the content and narrative of the film.
Even though this trailer is well made it still doesn’t show that it is a horror as it isn’t particularly scary. Also they have taken a risk with the trailer as they have only shown one clip from the movie, this may put people off watching the movie as they haven’t seen an over view of the full movie.
Overall I think this trailer works well as it is interesting and leaves you wanting to see more.

This trailer is a horror trailer for Day of The Dead which was released in 1985. This trailer was poorly made in comparison to the movie. The voice over used throughout the trailer was cheesy and made the trailer seem like a joke. The trailer overall was misleading as it showed people and a comedy zombie watching the film whereas the movie is not funny and is a gore horror. The trailer doesn’t show any gore which is also misleading as the film is full of gore and zombies. The pace of the trailer was also not right it stayed at a slow pace throughout which made the trailer uninteresting. The comedy zombie that appeared in the trailer was also not suitable as it seemed very joking compared to the actual movie. Even though there were a lot of bad points to this trailer there were a few parts that worked well such as; it relating back to previous films such as Dawn of the Dead, which helps to show what style the movie is going to be in.  It also introduces the narrative well so you know what the movie is kind of about. Overall this trailer was unsuccessful and I think that it would not draw people in to watch the movie.

This image is from the film STITCHES, it is from the scene where Sarah gets killed by Stitches the clown. This scene contains a lot of body horror, the scene starts off with Sarah kicking her high heel into stitches neck and it then heeling over. She then tries to run away from him, this is where he throws the umbrella through her eye. This shot is in slow motion which gives the body horror used a dramatic gore effect. The scene uses low key lighting which gives the scene an eerie feeling from the start. Sarah is shown from a high angle when she tries to kill Stitches; this is shows that she has no power compared to Stitches. Contrapuntal music is played over the top of this scene; instruments like violins are used for this music to try build tension.
